About The Care Record
What this site is
The Care Record explains how to pay for care, get the paperwork right and win the fights with insurers, state by state. It is written for you if you manage care for a parent or a spouse and need a straight answer for your state.
Every fact on a state page comes from the agency that sets it. Beside the fact you see its source and the date we last checked it. If we could not check a fact, it is not on the page.
Why it exists
Before we wrote a word, we read the pages that come up when you search for these questions. Many are run by companies that get paid when you call an advisor or give them your phone number. Many others are a year old or more, or tell you the rules differ by state and stop there.
That leaves the research to you, often in the same week a parent comes home from the hospital or a claim is denied. We built The Care Record to do that research properly, once, and to show our work.
So the site keeps three rules. The answer for your state comes first. Every fact shows where it came from and when we checked it. And there is no sales funnel: no advisor calls, no lead forms, and no one paying us to send you their way.
Who we are
Mario Bailey, Founder and Editor. Mario is a U.S. Air Force veteran with a service-connected disability. He reviews every page before it ships.
Jada Williams, Managing Editor. Jada reviews every page before it ships.
Every fact is checked against the agency source before a page ships. The page is also read from start to finish the way you would read it, looking for anything unclear or missing, and the checked-on date beside each fact is confirmed.
The Care Record does not give medical, legal or financial advice. When a decision belongs to a state agency, your health plan or a lawyer, the page says so and tells you who to ask. The disclaimer explains where that line sits.
How we check facts
We go to the agency that sets a rule, read the rule there, link it and date it. We check each state fact again at least every 90 days. A fact that is overdue shows "Re-check due" with the date it was last verified, so you always know how fresh it is. The full method is on How we verify, and every fix we make is listed on Corrections.
What we never do
We do not collect or store health information about you or the person you care for. You never need to give us a diagnosis, a Medicaid or Medicare number or a Social Security number to use this site, and you should not send them to us.
We do not sell your information, take referral fees or sell leads. The site carries no ads and no affiliate links. The advertising disclosure says how we would tell you if that ever changed.
